3/4 India, Tim's Company, were the first into the square in downtown Baghdad.  Tim was so close to Saddam's statue he "could spit on it".  The statue once stood on the large pedastal just right of center

Ordered to cross a bridge toward an enemy stronghold on foot.  We are to hold a river so they can put a pontoon bridge in.  (On orders) we blew up a Mercedes that wouldn't stop, waving a white flag.  Mileo put 2-40 mm into it.  There was a little girl in the back that we pulled out and rescued.  Suicide bombers (were taking) out . . . tanks (and) we take no chances.  [Again, civilians were mixing in with Iraqi military, and, military were waving white flags then shooting].

Got some shotgun shells for my found Remington 1100, cut the barrel off [used for shooting hinges off doors].

1300 rolled into Baghdad today, took the center square, we were pulling down the Sadaam statue.  These people are so excited.  Even the protesters are excited, giving water and dates.

I was live on Sky TV.  New Zeeland Times.  This is crazy.  There is still fighting around the Third Mechanized Infantry to our west.  We are the first unit to the center.  Placed a(n American) flag on Saddam Statue.

Various emails sent out to Timmy Times subscribers

April 9

Ok, to recap todays events.

9:30 a.m.
I got an email from my Aunt Tonie Funke, saying she had a friend that saw Tim interviewed, live, on Fox News Channel.

9:31
I immediately sent out an email soliciting a link to the video, if it existed.

9:45
My cousin Tina Helms found the link, and I forwarded it to all of you. It's Tim. If you haven't seen it, go to the timmy times website. I'll at least have the link and will try to embed the file.

10:00
I called my dad, annie, and jodi in California. I played the clip for jodi, she was in tears. My dad was pretty excited.

11:30
By this time, i received numerous emails and phone calls, one saying they heard tim's famous quote "they took off thier uniforms and went back to thier lives" on CBS radio (still verifying this one)

During this period, the statue of Saddam Hussein was being toppeled, and Tim was there.

2:30 pm.
I talk to my dad again, Tim was seen again on Fox News, saying hi to his family, live on TV. Dad said that tim actually called from downtown Baghdad! Using either a satelite phone or a calling card (Go ATT!)he talked to my dad and jodi from Iraq. Wow!

4:30 p.m., News 3 Kalamazoo called me, getting word of Tims appearance on TV. They called and interviewed my dad, and interviewed me. They showed the SkyTV clip on the 6:00 pm news. They will show it again tonite at 11:00.

We will record the video and the raw SKY TV clip for viewing later.

It is important to note: It's not over. We should not get complacent. Keep thinking and praying for my brother. Keep sending him mail. Lets hope they get things settled there and hope to see him this summer.
Tom

>Now how cool was that. I had to laugh "is this it (Baghdad)"? Hope someone got a tape of him. I called Annie's cell number to tell your Dad and he called me back while I was at lunch. Anyway he said he got the message and was watching the TV when Tim called from Baghdad! Everyone got to talk to him. They were where that statue came down. What a moment, uh? Now, I hope they replace them and let them come home.
