Moved south to a nasty Iraqi barracks. Received a package from Uncle Bill, Aunt Ellen, Aunt Toni, David Hoenecke, Tom, and Peter Stanislawksi.

Found out last night they want me to go to first platoon to take SSgt McDuffies Place. Hell ya!

Now we have good news. Tim's unit is back in Kuwait presumably at Camp Ripper or maybe one of the more modern ones. His company is scheduled to be back at 29 Palms in May. This could be a great Birthday present for Tim. His Birthday is May 15. I'm sure Jodie and the girls are insanely happy. There is a slight downer to all this.... India Co will do it's scheduled deployment (6 months) to Okinawa leaving in August.

This info comes from a reliable source. This been duly verified. The source has had the info since Wed morning !!! Ellen and Tonie and the Jim Funke children will understand this tardiness in reporting. The source is of course Jim Funke !!!

Here's how it goes last night (Thurs) Jim and I were having dinner and a beer at the local roadhouse engaging in the usual small talk...like when we need to mow lawns etc. I said I had been searching the news sources on line, and could find no mention of Tim's unit. I remarked that I just wish we knew where he was. Jim says "He's in Kuwait." We (Jim and I) had been there for a good hour..don't you think that would be the news of the day??!!!?? Upon further interrogation like "who what where when" .. Here's the story. Jodie called him at work on Wed AM. She was notified by the Company Office on base that Tim and his company were back in Kuwait and would be back in 29 Palms in May. Why he hasn't told anyone..he was busy at work..okay..but we had dinner together on Wed ... forgot "had an awful day at work" I tried to reach Jodie last night, but could not connect so this is all the info I have now.
